About hometown and family

I come from Davao del Norte, a province in the southern part of Mindanao which is known for its vast banana plantations. Most of the people in my province are employed in the banana production industry which exports the produce to a number of countries, including Japan. We are not all about bananas, though. Our place is also gifted with wonders of nature which include hot springs, lush green mountains and an abundant supply of minerals. I grew up appreciating nature and its beauty, no wonder I have a garden full of flowers and vegetables at home! I'm the eldest in a brood of three and my parents trained me about house duties early on so I could pass on the training as well to my siblings. It's not always fun being the oldest child in the family but I appreciate it when my younger sisters tell their friends and schoolmates at times that they look up to their Ate (older sister), for a number of, yes, good things, like never giving up and doing your best in any chosen endeavor.

Favorite TV programs and It’s contents

I look for substance and creativity in TV Programs. So I guess that gives you the idea that National Geographic is a favorite of mine. The behavior of animals in the wild never fails to captivate. I also like documentaries, like Reporter's Notebook especially because it features common folk - Filipino fishermen, families in the slums and people struggling to make a living out of poverty. Seeing these raw, uneditted scenes on TV makes me realize over and over again how precious life is, and that it's important to cherish what you have and not take it for granted. I'm a bit of a clown too, so Cartoon Network always comes handy. And to give me a break when life becomes a little stressful, I indulge in fantasy/fictional programs which include Once Upon A Time and Supernatural. You can say I watch almost everything, except of course horror, which I avoid because it gives me the creeps which last for hours!

Goals and dreams as an English teacher

I hope to provide inspiration to my students who are learning English. This way they will realize the beauty of learning the language. English opens the door to many possibilities and I aim to help my students unlock these wonders for themselves.

Comment to Students

Learning is a curve, not a straight line. There will always be challenges as we try to improve ourselves on something. So let's build up our persistence and determination and be creative, whichever works for us! Feedback is important especially as we evaluate our prcgress. Keep up the optimism and stay focused on our goal – dont' worry, we're in this journey together!

About Japanese and Japan

Japan's cherry blossoms are spectacular! We may have similar flowers here in the Philipines but I think Sakura depicts very well the Japanese, who I think are nice and sweet. I admire the resilience and discipline of the Japanese people. They always take pride in work which is very well done. Although from the east, Japan always takes the world spotlight in terms of technology and innovations. I'm always in awe about their medical and scientific breakthroughs!
